Kinderen gezocht voor de musical Miss Saigon.
Joop van den Ende theaterproducties zoekt kinderen voor de rol van Tam in de musical Miss Saigon.
In deze spectaculaire voorstelling, die zich afspeelt aan het eind van de Vietnam oorlog en enkele jaren daarna, speelt de 3 jarige TAM een belangrijke rol. Hij is het zoontje van de Vietnamese vrouw Kim en de Amerikaanse soldaat Chris.
Voor de rol van TAM zijn we op zoek naar Aziatisch ogende kinderen tussen de 4 en 6 jaar oud met een maximale lengte van 1,10 cm. Hij/zij heeft een figurerende rol in de voorstelling en hoeft niet te zingen of dansen. De kinderen die woonachtig zijn in de omgeving van Utrecht hebben de voorkeur, omdat de musical te zien is in het Beatrixtheater te Utrecht.
De audities zullen plaatsvinden 31 maart 2012. Repetities gaan meteen daarna van start.
Als je voldoet aan de criteria ontvang je een uitnodiging voor de audities. Bij de uitnodiging volgt meer informatie.

Wij bieden jou op dit moment de functie van grondsteward(ess) met Chinese taalvaardigheid voor een grote luchtvaartmaatschappij. Het gaat hierbij om een functie voor langere tijd voor 20 tot 24 uur per week.
Jouw taken bestaan uit het proactief benaderen van passagiers, assisteren of verwijzen van passagiers om het proces optimaal te laten verlopen, innemen van handbagage, assisteren bij het instappen van vluchten, floorwalken, ID-check uitvoeren.
Voor deze functie is het van belang dat je klant- en servicegericht bent, stressbestendig, flexibel, sterk bent in communicatie.
De eisen voor deze functie:
- Havo of MBO4 diploma
- Uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse, Engelse en Chinese taal
- Minimaal de afgelopen 5 jaar woonachtig in Nederland (ivm screeningprocedures)
- Ervaring met het werken met computers
- Ervaring in een dienstverlenende functie
- Minimaal 3 dagen per week beschikbaar
- Bereid om wisseldiensten te werken (ochtend, middag, avond, nacht, weekend)
- Om 04.00 uur aanwezig kunnen zijn op Schiphol
- 4 a 5 weken aaneengesloten fulltime beschikbaar om de training te volgen in januari

People of the Ports Shanghai - Rotterdam

In 2011 voor de pilot van People of the Ports bezoeken Nederlandse
fotografen en kunstenaars de haven van Rotterdam. Chinese fotografen doen
dat in Shanghai. Tijdens de Wereldhavendagen (2, 3 en 4 september) geven
Erika Blikman, Lars Brouwer, Ruben Dario Kleimeer, Nies Medema en Dan
Niang een eerste impressie van de havens en de mensen die er werken.
Resultaat van de individuele onderzoeken is te zien in het China op de
Kaaphuis, Delistraat 30 te Rotterdam. De presentatie is onder meer te
bezoeken met een boottocht van het Bolleneiland naar Katendrecht.

Van Shanghai naar Rotterdam
In 2012 ontmoeten het Nederlandse en Chinese team elkaar in Shanghai. Daar
zwaaien ze samen een containerschip uit, dat ze ook samen weer begroeten
bij aankomst in Rotterdam. Met (foto)blogs, geluid en korte video’s leggen
ze vast wie er bij het schip en haar lading betrokken zijn; op zee en aan
de wal. Tentoonstellingen in de bibliotheken van Shanghai en Rotterdam en
het Maritiem Museum in Shanghai zijn in voorbereiding.

100 jaar Chinezen in Nederland
Precies een eeuw geleden vestigden de eerste Chinezen zich in Nederland. Om dit te vieren wordt de Amsterdamse Dam op 9 juli aanstaande het toneel van een groot spektakel van 100 Chinese leeuwen. Van daaruit dansen zij in een optocht naar de Nieuwmarkt. De “Dans van de Leeuw” wordt de grootste ooit in Europa, zegt de organisator, de Stichting 100 jaar Chinezen in Nederland.

Meespelen in een film?
Voor een afstudeerfilm is Susie Oosting op zoek naar een Chinese man, leeftijd 40-60 jaar, die een (belangrijke) bijrol zou kunnen vervullen.
Het zal gefilmd worden in twee middagen (halve dagen, dus een aantal uur) tijd:
- op zaterdag 2 of zondag 3 juli, en
- op dinsdag 5 juli
We gaan filmen te Haarlem, reiskosten kunnen worden vergoed!
Acteerervaring is geen vereiste!
Hiernaast ben ik ook nog op zoek naar een wat oudere Chinese dame, leeftijd 50-80 jaar, die slechts één draaimiddag aanwezig hoeft te zijn, namelijk op dinsdag 5 juli (ook in Haarlem).
Wederom, geen acteerervaring vereist!
Wat vooral belangrijk is, is de welwillendheid om tegen enkel reiskostenvergoeding mee te helpen met het verwezenlijken van een leuke korte film, samen met een gezellig en zeer gemotiveerd team van jonge professionals. Plus de wetenschap dat je een jonge filmmaakster helpt afstuderen en haar film verwezenlijken!
Wanneer de film af is krijg je een DVD om hem thuis nog eens te bekijken.
En uiteraard zorgen wij ook voor lekker eten & drinken op de set, plus een goede sfeer!

Chinees-Nederlandse locatievoorstelling ZHONG.
Als bezoeker ga je op ontdekkingsreis langs 6 locaties, waarbij je op iedere locatie een voorstelling te zien krijgt. De voorstellingen zijn gemaakt met 1e en 2e generatie Chinezen, maar ook Rotterdammers van Nederlandse afkomst spelen in de voorstelling mee. Via de link kun je een pdf downloaden met meer info. Het programma is avondvullend en je krijgt als bezoeker op elke locatie een hapje aangeboden en je leert op elke locatie ook een Chinees woord.
We spelen nog 3 weekenden, elke donderdag, vrijdag en zaterdag t/m 2 juli. Speciaal voor cursisten van Chinese School Nederland zijn de kaarten € 12,50 ipv € 15,-.

Chinees Canadese documentairemaker Cheuk Kwan met jongeren in debat
Het filmfestival Asiascope en het politieke platform voor Nederlandse Chinezen CPIPF organiseren op 17 juli 2008 in Nam-Tin in Amsterdam (Jodenbreestraat 11) een debatavond met de Chinees-Canadese documentairemaker Cheuk Kwan. Tijdens de avond, die om 18.00 uur met een diner begint en om 22.00 uur is afgelopen, toont Kwan delen uit zijn documentaires over Chinese immigranten en gaat met het publiek in discussie. De kosten voor het eten bedragen 15 euro. De voertaal van de avond is Engels en staat onder leiding van Aernout Bouwman-Sie, China-redacteur van NRC Handelsblad. Workshop traditionele Chinese schildertechnieken
Door Zhou Lesheng
Zhou Le Sheng geeft les in, en demonstreert traditionele Chinese teken- en schildertechnieken op rijstpapier en zijde, kalligrafie en stempeltechnieken. Deze technieken worden in China vaak gecombineerd toegepast. Hierbij geldt het principe dat door concentratie en oefening de hoogste vorm van perfectie kan worden ontwikkeld. We maken kennis met de 'vier kostbaarheden': penseel, papier, inktstaaf en inkt.

Semester update
Welcome back all students and teachers! And welcome all new students! Those of you who have gone to China, we look forward to hearing your stories.
This week marks the beginning of Autumn semester in our schools. Lessons at the British School in Amsterdam will begin in 20 September.
On behalf of all staff and students, CONGRATULATIONS!! to Shi Runwei who 'secretly' got married in Shanghai last month!! If we get a chance, we will post some photos and perhaps show you the video in school!
We like to congratulate the students who passed their HSK examination that took place in Leiden University last semester. All of us at our school are very proud of you! Well done!
Several of our teacher left the Netherlands in the past months. Wang Boyuan has gone to Chicago to further his study, Liuyi started work this week with an international hotel chain in his native Beijing in Charge of staff training. At the meantime, we have two new teachers joining us. Let us welcome Sun Wenting and Huang Xuhua to our dedicated team. Wenting teaches in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Xuhua teaches in Den Haag and Amsterdam.
During the vacation, teacher Yumin and Runwei attended some teaching courses in Shanghai. Yumin learned about children's education while Runwei learned about muti-media applications in Chinese language teaching. We look forward to their updates and put into practice what they have learned.
Despite the busy first week of school, Robert managed to give a presentation about China to some tourism students at NHTV in Breda yesterday. We hope to participate and organize more presentations in the future, promoting both Chinese language and culture to those who are beginning to come into contact with the Chinese either for business or for leisure.
Mid-Autumn festival, falls on 25 September this year. Mooncake has appeared in Chinese grocery stores for a few weeks already. All of us at the Chinese School wish everyone a happy Mid-summer.

Peking Opera treedt eenmalig op in Den Haag

Gemeente Den Haag stimuleert burgers: Show your roots!
Op uitnodiging van de Stichting Chinatown Den Haag verzorgt het beste Peking-operagezelschap een eenmalig optreden in Den Haag. Het Peking Opera Ensemble van Shanghai brengt een bewerking van Shakespeare's Hamlet. Het is de enige voorstelling die het wereldberoemde gezelschap in Nederland geeft. Het initiatief komt uit de Chinese gemeenschap in Den Haag, hiertoe uitgedaagd en aangemoedigd door Rabin Baldewsingh, wethouder Burgerschap.
Rabin Baldewsingh: "Ik draag dit project een bijzonder warm hart toe. De gemeente Den Haag daagt de verschillende bevolkingsgroepen in de stad uit om het beste van hun eigen cultuur te laten zien. Peking Opera bestaat al zo'n 200 jaar. Deze opera wordt gezien als de hoogste expressie van de Chinese cultuur en is een van de meest verfijnde Oosterse cultuurvormen. De bewerking van Shakespeare's Hamlet is geheel in traditionele Chinese operastijl. Prachtige kostuums, fraai beschilderde gezichten, markante muziek, acrobatiek en verbluffende zang staan garant voor een unieke belevenis. Bij de Chinese opera zit het publiek niet muisstil op een stoel. Het wordt gewaardeerd als het publiek zijn bewondering hardop uit. De voorstelling is niet alleen voor de Haagse Chinese gemeenschap, maar voor alle burgers van de stad.
Het optreden is op woensdag 16 mei in het Lucent Danstheater in Den Haag.
Het Peking Opera Ensemble Shanghai heeft een uitstekende reputatie, getuige ook de recensies na een optreden tijdens het China Festival in het Concertgebouw in 2005:

De Opera gaat om 20.00 uur van start met een beknopte inleiding door sinoloog Frank Kouwenhoven (van Stichting CHIME) en er is boventiteling aanwezig.

Happy Year of the Pig!
Amsterdam Chinese Business Association orgainzes yearly Chinese New Year celebration at the Nieuwmarkt. This year the event takes place on new year's eve and is officially opened by the major of Amsterdam at noon with lion dance and a lot of fire crackers. This year's New Year's Day falls on 18 February 2007. Traditionally, Chinese New Year celebration lasts 15 days.
Our school takes part in the event for the first time by setting up a stall. The weather was beautiful and there was a big crowd.
We wish everyone and all our students all over the Netherlands a very happy Pig Year. Xin Nian Kuai Le!(Happy new year in Chinese).

Universiteit van Amsterdam start interdisciplinaire collegereeks China: Gevaren en Kansen
Het Instituut voor Interdisciplinaire Studies (IIS) van de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) start vanaf september 2006 met een collegereeks over China met als titel China: Gevaren en Kansen.
Hoewel de media steeds meer aandacht aan China schenken, is dat toch meestal fragmentarisch of voorspelbaar. De toon is juichend ('China is/wordt kapitalistisch') negatief ('China is een totalitaire dictatuur waar de mensenrechten met de voeten worden getreden'). In deze interdisciplinaire cursus over het huidige China willen we dit beeld rechttrekken, om als het ware achter de berichtgeving te kijken, om zo vast te kunnen stellen wat er werkelijk speelt.
Diverse wetenschappers en andere experts uit verschillende disciplines zullen ontwikkelingen in de Chinese samenleving nader beschouwen. Hoewel ook de spectaculaire groei van de Chinese economie aan de orde zal komen, zal dat zeker niet het zwaartepunt zijn van de bijeenkomsten, die zijn gegroepeerd rond de thema's: politiek, economie, sociale ontwikkelingen en cultuur.
Centraal in de cyclus staan de volgende vragen: Is de Volksrepubliek werkelijk het land van de ongekende kansen, of dreigen er gevaren in de stormachtige ontwikkeling? Wordt er ooit een synthese bereikt tussen de Chinese traditie en de vaak uit het Westen ge?ntroduceerde moderniteit en wat zijn hiervan de gevolgen? Of, in het kort: Wat moeten we met China?

Bram Tegels' Travel log
From January until june i studied Chinese at Chinese School Amsterdam, the first two courses. Right now i'm traveling through China (see web-log) and i promised to tell you something about my experiences. I'm very pleased with the knowledge i have of the Chinese language. It helps a great deal in getting the things you want, but most of all it's great fun talking to the Chinese people. Especially in the trains i had nice encounters.
I was thinking about the course and the level needed to travel through China, and i found that the 2nd course helped a lot to really understand and to use the basics learned in the first course. As a recommendation I think the words 'internet' and 'internetcafe' (especially include the characters as they are hard to find) should be added to the course as well as things concerned with traintravelling (hard sleeper, softsleeper, upper, middle and lower bed). Also the 'Tian mi mi' song was enjoyed by a lot of people. If I had known it by hart, KTV would have been a lot easier. A thing i had underestimated, was the counting by hand signals (1-10). I was really surprised it was used so much.
We've just taken the train to Lhasa from Shanghai, just recently opened. It was actually not so difficult to arrange here, in spite of what is said in the netherlands. The train tickets are only sold ten days in advance, hence it's difficult to arrange in the netherlands. The permit for Tibet is more difficult, and almost as expensive as the train ticket. The Tibetan Tourism Office (TTO) has arranged this for us.
After 1,5 month of traveling in China we have seen a lot of Chinese habits we need to get used to. I think this won't succeed for 100%, especially the sounds at diner aren't beneficial for my appetite. I have changed my mind about certain governmental issues, that we're not compatible with my 'European' mind. The vastness of the country, the huge amount of people, and the rapidly changing environment are elements for national planning that ask for special -not European- treatment.
Well, I hope you enjoy our web-site. Until now we enjoyed JiuZhaiGou as one of the most beautiful places of China.

Hij dwingt zijn dochter hard te studeren en niet aan haar arme omgeving gehecht te raken. De plattelandsjongen Honggen maakt Qinghong het hof en zij weet niet goed hoe ze hierop moet reageren. Haar vader ziet door deze romance zijn droom in diggelen vallen en raakt in paniek. Hij bespioneert zijn dochter en haar aanbidder en probeert de boel naar zijn hand te zetten.

Qingdao, 1948, de communisten rukken op uit het noorden. De zussen Fei (kind van de dienstmeid) en Ying (kind van de echtgenote) werden al jong gescheiden. Als jaren later hun vader overlijdt, erft Ying alles mits Fei weer in het ouderlijk huis komt wonen en het testament mede-ondertekent. Fei wordt tot terugkeer gechanteerd, maar blijft het tekenen van het testament uitstellen. Zij koestert al van jongsafaan afgunst jegens het decadente leven van Ying. Bovendien heeft ze Huang, Yings aanstaande man, ontmoet en voelt zij zich sterk tot hem aangetrokken.
Prachtige film waarin het achterliggende politieke schisma (de armen grepen naar het communisme, de rijken naar hun paspoort) de relaties op scherp zet.
